We respect intellectual-property rights and patient privacy, and we expect the same from everyone who uploads to laparoscopic.tv. This page explains how to report content and what happens next. All reports go to [email protected].

1. Reporting copyright infringement

If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright (or that of someone you are authorized to represent), send a notice including:

1. your name, organization, and contact details;
2. identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed (or a representative list);
3. the URL(s) of the allegedly infringing content on the Service, precise enough for us to locate it;
4. a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the rights holder, its agent, or the law;
5. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act for them; and
6. your physical or electronic signature.

On receipt of a valid notice we will remove or disable access to the content promptly and notify the uploader, who may respond with a counter-notice containing equivalent identification, a good-faith statement that the material was removed by mistake or misidentification, and consent to the jurisdiction of the competent courts. If we receive a valid counter-notice, we may restore the content unless the original claimant informs us they have initiated legal proceedings.

2. Reporting identifiable patient information

Content on the Service must be fully de-identified (see our Terms of Service). If a video, its audio, or its description appears to contain a patient’s name, face, record numbers, or any other identifying information, report it with the URL and a description of what is identifiable — you do not need to be the patient to report it. We treat these reports with priority: the content is taken out of public view while we review, and it is removed or required to be re-edited if the report is confirmed.

3. Other complaints

Reports concerning defamation, impersonation, privacy (other than patient identification), or other unlawful content can be sent to the same address with the URL and a short explanation. We review all reports and take action proportionate to the finding, as described in our Terms of Service.

4. Repeat infringers

We terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright or repeatedly upload content containing identifiable patient information.

5. Misuse of this process

Knowingly submitting false or bad-faith reports may expose you to liability and can lead to your reports being disregarded or your account being terminated.
